Why you should drink more water

Everyone has heard it a million times, drink more water.  But rarely do people take this to heart and change their habits from either occasionally having water with meals and drinking soda’s, coffee’s and juice’s through-out the day to actually removing all of that other crap and just drinking water.

Over the past 6 months I have completely over-hauled my diet and consider drinking water to be in the top 3 things to change.  My old habits had me drinking an energy drink, 3 to 4 soda’s, some juice and a couple alcoholic beverages daily.  My new habit is much more simple, much healthier and much more affordable.  I now drink at least 2 liters of water per day and on occasion have a soda or alcoholic beverage.

So, why should you drink water?  I found the following blog which does a great job of giving us the answer to this and I’ve noted the top 10 below:

  1. Water is an essential component of the human body.
  2. Water acts as a nourishing agent.
  3. Water is a cleansing agent.
  4. Water helps reduce the risk of kidney stones.
  5. Water helps reduce the risk of sunstroke.
  6. Water helps lower the blood pressure.
  7. Water minimizes the risk of heart disease.
  8. Water keeps your skin in good condition.
  9. Water does not contain calories.
  10. Water is (almost) free.

Get out your nalgene or giant cup, fill it up with some fresh water and start drinking!  You’ll be surprised how much water you can drink – just set a simple goal of 1 liter before lunch and 1 liter after.  Cheers to your health.

Like the thoughts here, and have been trying to do the same (although can’t bring myself to buy water here in the US!). Only thing is, now I am freaked out about BPA in my Nalgene. Oh well, can’t win them all I guess.
