Are you prepared to get hit by a bus today?
For starters – your chances of getting hit by a bus today are not high. There are only around 300 pedestrian traffic collisions daily in the US which leaves you at a one in a million chance of getting struck by a vehicle today (slightly higher than winning the mega-millions jackpot, but still highly unlikely) – but that is besides the point. What would happen if you got injured today and became mentally incapacitated or you no longer were here?
Every adult should have both a Last Will and a Living Will completed to outline their wishes upon mental incapacitation or death. The “Last Will” communicates what should be done with your money and belongings and the “Living Will” provides your medical wishes should something tragic happen. I completed basic versions of both documents in under an hour by using free templates provided by DoYourOwnWill.com. These forms might not be suitable for everyone’s specific needs, but they should work just fine for us “Twenty Somethings”.
