Monthly Subscription Fees Add Up
With everyone trying to cut down on spending during these tough times – I recommend taking a look at your monthly discretionary services.
A decent amount of our yearly spending is spent on monthly subscriptions to various services. Cell Phone Plans, Gym Memberships, Netflix, Parking Spots, Cable, Internet, Gamefly, Car Payments, Music Plans, the list goes on. You might not think you are spending much on these services, but try multiplying the monthly amount by twelve. This helps you analyze how much of your yearly income you are spending on a particular service.
I’ve recently gotten rid of the cable box in my room, stopped my home phone service (used for work calls), cancelled my blackberry email service, and lowered my minutes on my cell phone plan. Total yearly savings: $700.
How much do you spend a month on these discretionary services?
